Disclaimer

The distances, durations and figures on this website are our honest current position, not a guarantee, and the pictures on it show the class of vehicle rather than the exact one that turns up. This page says, section by section, what to rely on and what not to, and where the figure you can actually rely on is published instead.

Why this page exists

Most of what is on this website is a fact we control absolutely: the vehicle classes we run, the rate published against each one, the terms a booking is made on. A small part of it is a fact that no operator, however careful, can promise to the minute or to the kilometre before your car has actually driven the road: how long the drive to Chandigarh takes today, what a photograph of a sedan looks like next to the particular one allotted to you tomorrow. This page separates the two.

That is the whole purpose of a disclaimer, and it is worth saying plainly rather than leaving it to be inferred from a list of clauses. It is not a device for avoiding responsibility for something within our control, and nothing on this page reduces what we owe you under your booking terms, the fare that was actually quoted to you, or the law. It exists so that where a figure on this website is an estimate rather than a promise, you know which one it is before you rely on it, and so that where something genuinely can vary, you know what it does not affect: your fare, your booking and what we owe you under it.

Purpose and scope

This page applies to every page on om-travels.in: the route and fare information, the fleet pages, the coverage map, the wedding and event pages, and any editorial or FAQ content. It sits alongside /terms and /booking-terms, and our published pricing, and it does not replace any of them. Where this page and a specific quotation or duty slip disagree about what you were actually promised for your trip, the quotation and the duty slip are what governs, because those are the documents built for your booking specifically and this one is general to the whole website.

A general disclaimer of this kind is standard practice on any website that publishes route information, imagery and editorial content alongside a live booking system, precisely because the two kinds of information behave differently: one is a fact fixed at the moment you book, the other is drawn from experience and updated when we learn something new. Setting out the difference here, once, is more honest than leaving every page to make its own quiet assumption about which kind of fact it is stating.

Distances, durations and drive times

A distance or a drive time shown on this website, on a route page, a service page or in a search result, is indicative. It is worked out from the road distance we quote against for that route, built from experience of actually running it, and it is not a live traffic estimate and not a promise about how long your particular trip will take on the day.

A real trip varies from that estimate for reasons that have nothing to do with the vehicle or the driver: traffic building through a city on the way out or the way back, a diversion put up for road work or a local event, a landslide or a closed pass in the hills during the monsoon, fog on the Grand Trunk Road in winter, or a checkpoint on a border crossing between states. None of these is something an operator can promise away, and a website that promised you an exact arrival time regardless of the road would be promising you something it cannot control.

What this does not affect is your fare. A published route figure is what we quote from; it is not what you are billed against. The kilometres you actually pay for are the kilometres the odometer records, point to point, and a delay caused by traffic or weather does not become an extra charge on your quotation. Exactly how a kilometre and a day are counted, and how the minimum chargeable distance is applied to your trip, is set out in full at /legal/km-and-hours-computation; exactly how that count turns into the figure on your invoice, and what is included in the base fare against what is billed at actuals, is set out in full at /legal/pricing-and-taxes. Both are worth reading together with this page rather than instead of it.

Vehicle images

Photographs and illustrations of our vehicles on this website are representative of a class, a sedan, an MPV, a tempo traveller, and not a photograph of the specific car that will be sent for your trip. The vehicle actually allotted to you may be a different model within the same class, in a different colour, from a different manufacturer, and this is deliberate rather than an oversight.

Part of our fleet is partner-operated: a portion of the vehicles we run belong to drivers and small operators we have worked with over a number of years, rather than to us directly, and which one of them is free on a given day is settled close to the trip rather than months in advance. Allotment for your booking is confirmed the evening before, with the driver and the vehicle registration number, once we know which vehicle is actually available. This is also why we do not publish a registration number, a model year or a fitness certificate date for any specific vehicle on this website: those facts belong to a car we have not yet assigned to you, and publishing one now would only be replaced by a different one on the day.

What is guaranteed is the class you booked, not the specific vehicle. If you book a sedan, a sedan is what arrives, with the seating and luggage capacity that class carries and at the rate published for it. If the exact model matters to you for a particular occasion, say so at the time of enquiry and we will tell you plainly whether we can commit to it, rather than let a photograph on this website stand in for a promise we have not made.

Wedding decoration images

Where a wedding fleet photograph on this website shows a decorated vehicle, flowers, drapes, a particular colour scheme, the decoration shown is illustrative of the general style we can arrange, not a catalogue entry you are booking against. A wedding car is dressed for the specific day, the specific colours the couple has chosen and whatever is actually available from our decorators that week, and no single photograph can stand in for that.

Whether decoration is included in your quotation at all, and exactly what it consists of, flowers, ribbon, a particular colour, a specific style, is a separate line discussed and agreed with you directly, and it is stated on your written quotation before you confirm. It is never assumed from a photograph on this website, and a picture you have liked is a starting point for that conversation rather than a specification we work from unasked. If a particular look matters to you, describe it when you enquire, and it goes into the quotation in writing.

Editorial and FAQ content

Any FAQ, guide, route note or other editorial content on this website, writing about hill routes, wedding planning, what to expect on an airport run, or similar, is informational and general in nature. It is written from our own operating experience running these routes, and it is not legal, financial, medical or travel advice, and it is not tailored to your specific circumstances, health, itinerary or the particular day you are travelling.

Where a road, a pass or a permit requirement mentioned in an article changes after it was written, the article itself may not be updated the same day, because our operating decisions for your trip are made against the current position rather than against what a page says. Where a specific question concerns your trip, a hill closure, a permit you need, the timing that actually works for your flight, contact us directly through /contact or /enquiry so an actual answer can be given against your booking rather than a general one against a topic.

AI-assisted content

Some images and some page drafts on this website were produced with the assistance of a generative tool: an illustration of a vehicle class, or a first draft of a paragraph later edited by us. Where that is true, the tool assisted with the drawing or the drafting only. It did not decide what this business does, what it charges, or what it promises.

Every fact, figure and policy stated on this website, a rate, a class, a term, a route, is set by Om Travels from our own operations and checked against them before publication. A vehicle image produced with such a tool is representative of a class in exactly the same way as any other vehicle photograph on this website, and is never presented as a photograph of an actual, specific vehicle in our fleet.
